What Progetto Puro is

Independent design, real production

Progetto Puro is an independent design studio founded in 2025 by Nicolò Rovera.

In Italian, progetto means more than “project”: it is the thinking and process that turn an idea into a real object. Puro means “pure”: essential, coherent and free from anything unnecessary. Together, these two words express our approach: every choice has a reason.

The studio was founded to make design more accessible through essential, functional objects conceived from the outset for intelligent production. Every project seeks a balance between form, light, manufacturing and everyday life.

My story... so far

My name is Nicolò Rovera. I was born in Verona in 1995 and graduated in Product Design in Bologna.

After graduating, I began working in lighting and product development, focusing on the design, engineering and production of objects.

This experience soon brought me face to face with the most tangible side of design: materials, manufacturing processes, assembly, costs, lead times and production constraints.

Progetto Puro grew out of this: a desire to create design that is more grounded, accessible and closer to people. Not as a destination, but as the beginning of a journey.

Listening before designing

Many products begin with a shape, an image or an intuition. Only later does the question arise of how to actually make them.

That is often when the problems emerge: excessive costs, complex processes, wasted materials, compromises in quality or products that become accessible to an increasingly limited audience.

Progetto Puro works differently.

Before we design, we listen to those who make. We speak with companies, craftspeople, technicians and operators. We seek to understand how they work, which tools they use, the constraints they face and the possibilities they can offer.

For us, every manufacturing skill is an integral part of the design. Understanding it means creating objects that are more coherent, efficient and accessible.

A project is pure when form, function and production evolve together from the very beginning. When an idea does not remain abstract, but immediately finds the right way to become a real product.

A network of real-world expertise

The project is also shaped by the people who make it possible

Progetto Puro works with manufacturers, craftspeople and workshops in Italy and abroad.

Each has its own way of working: machinery, materials, constraints, lead times, expertise and specific processes. Understanding them first-hand means designing with greater clarity.

Turning, milling, laser cutting, tube bending, roll bending, glassworking, marble, wood and metalworking: every process can become a starting point.

We do not look for abstract solutions. We talk to the people who make things, observe how they work and turn that knowledge into more coherent, efficient and manufacturable designs.

What we believe in

  1. Accessibility
Design should not feel out of reach. A more efficient approach can make a product more accessible without compromising on quality.
  2. Real-world production
Every form must respond to real materials, manufacturing processes and assembly methods.
  3. Respect for resources
Reducing complexity means reducing waste in materials, time and energy.
  4. Light and interaction
A lamp is not just an object to look at. It is something we switch on, touch and adjust—something that changes with the person using it.

Technology serving design

Every project begins with a sheet of paper and a pencil. But to become a real product, it must be measured, tested, communicated and understood by everyone involved.

Parametric 3D modelling, technical drawings, rendering, animations, FEM and CFD simulations, 3D scanning and mixed reality allow us to develop more precise projects that are easier to manage.

Above all, they help us communicate more effectively with clients, companies, craftspeople and collaborators, making every stage clearer, more collaborative and easier to turn into reality.

Building design closer to people

Progetto Puro looks ahead with a clear goal: to create a collection of accessible, intelligently designed lamps built to last.

We want to continue working with Italian companies, craftspeople and professionals, turning simple ideas into tangible products that belong in real spaces and everyday life.
